
About the Role
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in organizing household items
• Assist with following budge prepared by case manager
• Assist to find/use community services
• Perform reading writing tasks
• Provide companionship and/or emotional support
• Demonstrate and assist with basic housekeeping tasks (sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, dishes) • Assist in purchasing clothing or other household items
• Care for clothing (ironing, laundering, and simple mending)
• Provide transportation for approved essential shopping
• Assist or administer bed or tub bath, basin, shower or sitz bath
•Assist with or dress client
•Assist and/or perform hair care
•Assist and/or perform skin care
•Assist and/or perform nail care (toenails may not be trimmed if client has diabetes/peripheral vascular disease)
•Mouth care (including dentures)
•Make an unoccupied or occupied bed
•Assist with mobility with/without assistive devices
•Assist with active range of motion exercises if prescribed by M.D.
•Assist with transfers with/without mechanical devices
•Assist with planning and preparing proper food handling, food storage, and pest control
•Prepare client for mealtime and assist with feeding
•Take/record vital signs, temperature, height and weight
•Assist client wit bedpan and/or urinal
•Apply condom catheters
•Observe, record and report self-administered medications
•Apply/remove prosthetic devices for stable client
•Apply Ace bandages, TED’s and binders
•Apply prescribed heat and cold
•Change non-sterile dressings
•Recognize and report indicators of abuse, neglect, illness etc. to proper professional
Requirements
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years old at time of employment.
CPR/First Aid or BLS (or willingness to get trained)
Individual must have received appropriate training in a Board of Nursing approved program NA-1 aide training and competency program.
Individual must be listed with the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry or within four months of initial hiring.
